AMATEUR RADIO IS A HOBBY FIRST! WE’RE HERE TO BUILD SOMETHING BETTER!

Our goal is to illustrate how amateur radio fosters community engagement. This site highlights real-life connections through our experiences, showcasing how we learn, grow, and build relationships via shared hobbies, mutual support, and community collaboration, including tools like HamAlert.

Amateur radio is at its best when you’re connected not just on the air, but to everything happening around you. Activity can pop up at any moment, whether it’s a rare DX station, a POTA activation, or a summit coming alive, and it’s easy to miss if you’re not constantly watching. HamAlert solves that problem by bringing everything to you. Instead of checking multiple websites and feeds, HamAlert monitors sources like DX clusters, Reverse Beacon Network, SOTA watch, POTA, WWFF, and PSK Reporter, then sends you alerts when something you care about appears.
What makes HamAlert especially useful is how customizable it is. You can tailor alerts to match exactly what interests you specific callsigns, DXCC entities, CQ zones, parks, summits, bands, modes, or even certain times of day. This means you’re not overwhelmed with information you don’t need. You’re only notified when something relevant shows up, helping you stay focused and ready to operate when it matters most. It turns radio from a waiting game into an opportunity you can act on.
HamAlert also fits into how you already operate. Whether you prefer push notifications, messaging platforms, or integrating alerts into your own setup, it works in the background and keeps you informed without interrupting your flow. Once it’s set up, it becomes part of your station, quietly keeping you connected to the broader amateur radio world.
At its core, HamAlert strengthens your connection to the community. It helps you find other operators, support activations, and stay engaged with what’s happening across the hobby. You’re not just tuning around hoping to hear something you’re part of the activity as it unfolds. That connection is what keeps amateur radio exciting, active, and growing.
HamAlert makes it easier to stay involved, make more contacts, and be ready when the moment comes. Set your alerts, keep your radio close, and stay connected. You never know what you’ll hear next.

PotaPowerLive is a Parks on the Air–focused channel led by Vaughn KG4VET and Julie KJ4ULZ, bringing amateur radio out of the shack and into the outdoors. Based in Florida and operating from locations like the Ocala National Forest, they travel to parks across the country, activating sites, making contacts, and sharing the full experience with their audience.
Their content goes beyond just operating. Through park reviews, equipment discussions, and live streams, POTA Power shows what amateur radio looks like in real-world settings simple setups, changing conditions, and the excitement of making contacts from anywhere. Their approach is relaxed, approachable, and focused on making the hobby feel accessible to anyone curious enough to try.
What sets POTA Power apart is their energy and personality. They bring a sense of fun and authenticity that makes each activation feel less like a demonstration and more like an adventure you’re part of. From connecting with other operators to sending out QSL cards and engaging with the broader community, they highlight what makes amateur radio special 'the people'.
POTA Power also plays an active role in the larger ham radio community, connecting with other creators, participating in events, and encouraging others to get involved. Young Ladies Radio League is an international organization dedicated to supporting, encouraging, and connecting women in amateur radio. Founded in 1939, YLRL has a long history of creating opportunities for women to grow in the hobby while building meaningful relationships along the way.
At its heart, YLRL is about community. It brings together operators of all experience levels from those just getting started to those who have been on the air for decades. Through nets, awards, contests, and ongoing programs, the organization creates spaces where women can learn, share, and actively participate in amateur radio in a welcoming and supportive environment.
YLRL also plays an important role in helping women stay engaged and confident in the hobby. Whether it’s making contacts on the air, working toward awards, or simply connecting with others who share similar interests, members find encouragement and a sense of belonging that can sometimes be hard to find elsewhere.
